Tonight, I torqued the AutoClave shut by another 3/4 turn before I crapped out. I’s still set up in the rack, and I will get the Effin thing closed, but Daaaaymnnn. I need to get back into the relative shape I used to claim.
Here’s the deal. One welded 3K-lb cap, one Threaded. The Nipple they are attaching to is 316 Stainless, Schedule 80, with a burst pressure of over 5K-PSI. I need to reach 1500 PSI at 35° C. the double Plus safety margin is nice, especially since closing this bitch is proving to be an endeavour, and the Pipe wrenches have carved thier grooves into the steel… But whomever said Carriage House Engineering is without risk is clearly mad.
That being said, thank the cosmos for modern tools… i.e., Pipe Wrenches, Lag Bolts from Hades, Huge Chunks of wood for leverage, Come-Alongs, and Absolutely Ginormous Pipe Wrenches… I need a harness, so I can carry this Melon Crusher easily during the Inevitable Decedent Reanimation and Fall of Civilization. Hey, whatever suits.
